Mieke Meijer (Wezep, 1982) graduated from the Design Academy Eindhoven in 2006. Since then she works on self initiated and commissioned projects in her Eindhoven based workshop. Mieke Meijer regularly takes part in exhibitions in different contexts both nationally and internationally. Recently she had her first solo-exhibition called 'Industrial Archaeology' at gallery Christian Ouwens in Rotterdam. Her work was part of the exhibition 'Untouchables Retouched' by collective Dutch Invertuals at the Salone del Mobile in Milan and a week after she showed her work to the Queen of the Netherlands at the Oranienbaum Palace in Germany.

Her ‘functional objects’ are the result of an ongoing investigation to the unperceived aesthetics of everyday life. No matter the startingpoint  -from products we daily use to industrial machinery-, Mieke Meijer filters the essence and transforms ideas into designs that appeal to the imagination long term. The objects therefore keep their value.

Transparant constructions, clean lines and clear shapes play an important role in Mieke Meijers work. Material and detailing both contribute to a recognisable signature.

Her work is for sale through various galleries and shops in the Netherlands and abroad. For more information please send an email to info@miekemeijer.nl.
